Closing Date: 9am Wednesday 7 January 2026

About the Organisation

With over 5,000 dedicated colleagues, Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of acute and community healthcare services to 400,000 people living across Derbyshire. Rated as Good by the CQC, with an ambition to achieve Outstanding, they are a values-led organisation committed to providing exceptional care for the communities they proudly serve. Their Together as One strategy is due to be refreshed next year in line with the new national 10 Year Plan for the NHS in England, making this an exciting and pivotal time to join #TeamCRH. As a key partner in the wider health and care system and an anchor institution in their community, they are committed to working closely with their partners to reduce inequalities and improve the health, wellbeing, and opportunities of those they serve.

About the role

They are seeking an inspirational new Chair to lead their Board at this exciting and challenging time for their Trust and the NHS. As Chair, you will champion their ethos of Working the Chesterfield Way, fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture within their board and guiding their future direction.  Their Chair will lead their board and Council of Governors to ensure they continue to deliver high quality, safe, and equitable care. You will play a critical role in gaining assurance, lifting ambition, encouraging system-wide collaboration, and ensuring they are maximising opportunities to embrace digital innovation, promote neighbourhood working, and further focus on the prevention agenda.

They are seeking an exceptional leader with vision, influence, and a deep commitment to their populations, colleagues, and organisation. With successful and significant board level leadership and governance experience in complex, regulated, and person-centred organisations, you will be a visible and approachable leader with the credibility to engage a wide range of stakeholders, and inspire and guide their Board and Council of Governors. Your public service values, strategic vision, strong understanding of effective governance, and ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups will support your success in this high-profile role.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the board of a successful organisation and make a lasting impact on the future health and wellbeing of their local population. They are incredibly proud of their diversity as an organisation; they warmly welcome and encourage applications from candidates with protected characteristics and value the lived experience of all their Board members.

If you feel this role could be for you and are inspired by this very special opportunity to join us as their Chair, they would love to hear from you.
