About the organisation
NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB commissions health and care services for 1.8 million people, with responsibility for over £5 billion in funding. Serving a diverse population across a complex geography, they are committed to understanding the needs of communities to deliver high-quality, inclusive care. Their vision is to create a high-quality, communitycentred health and care system by 2035, working collaboratively with partners to improve health outcomes and wellbeing across the region.
This is a challenging but exciting time to join the Board. As they respond to national expectations to reduce running and programme costs, they are embracing the opportunities presented by the Model ICB Blueprint, refocusing their role as a strategic commissioner, strengthening population health approaches, and streamlining how they operate. This creates a significant opportunity to reshape the organisation and accelerate delivery of their long‑term vision.
These opportunities to join the Board as the Deputy Chair or Non‑Executive Member come at a pivotal moment of reform across the NHS and wider health and care system. They are focused on managing the risks, while realising the opportunities, of their role in delivering the ambitions of Fit for the Future (the NHS 10‑Year Plan) and local partnership priorities.
NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB are seeking committed and values‑driven individuals who bring fresh perspectives and a genuine passion for improving health outcomes for communities.
About the roles
For the Deputy Chair you will bring significant NHS experience gained either as a Non‑Executive Member or executive role and demonstrate a strong ability to chair committees effectively. You will be confident operating at a system level, shaping strategic direction and supporting delivery across complex partnerships.
For the Non‑Executive Member, you will bring a background that demonstrates, through professional or lived experience, strong connections to the communities of Lancashire and South Cumbria, enabling you to add value to the Board’s work and support delivery of its objectives.
Above all, you will offer sound judgement, independence of thought and the confidence to provide constructive challenge. Your insight, curiosity and integrity will help strengthen the Board and support delivery of high‑quality, integrated care.
NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB want to increase the diversity of their NHS leadership and encourage applications from groups that are all under-represented in these important roles and prioritise Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, team health and well- being and the principles of kind leadership in their ‘ways of working’.
