Closing Date: Wednesday 12th November 2025

About the Organisation

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is an innovative, integrated healthcare organisation with over 5,000 dedicated staff providing excellent patient care to a population of over 270,000 people in the Rotherham area through impressive modern facilities at Rotherham Hospital, as well as community-based sites and in their patients’ homes. As a member of the Rotherham Place Partnership and South Yorkshire Integrated Care System, they are actively working with system partners, notably in their well-established partnership with Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with whom they  have a joint Chief Executive and Chair in Common. Their strategy sets us up for a new era in healthcare delivery as they strive to reach ‘Outstanding’, and to deliver safe, high quality, and affordable integrated healthcare services focused on reducing health inequalities in their population. They want their people to be proud to work in a compassionate and inclusive organisation that delivers excellent healthcare for their patients.

About the roles

They are seeking to appoint a values-driven and inspiring Non-Executive Director and Associate Non-Executive Director to their dynamic Board. Accountable to the public and their membership through their dedicated Council of Governors, these roles will provide oversight, governance, leadership and scrutiny.  As Board members, you will demonstrate compassion for their staff and the communities they serve, promote the highest standards of integrity and corporate governance, and offer independent challenge and support. Most importantly, you will role model their values of Ambitious, Caring, and Together.

These roles require exceptional strategic leaders with Board level or equivalent experience gained in complex, changing, and multi-stakeholder environments either in the private, public or third sector. To balance the experience already on their Board, they are particularly interested in candidates with experience in strategic financial leadership, partnership working, community or social care, and/or digital transformation. However, these are not essential, and they welcome applications from candidates with a wide range of skills and sector experience. Whilst previous Non-Executive Director experience is not essential, significant transformational leadership experience at scale will allow you to quickly add impact and value to their agenda. Their Associate Non-Executive Director will add additional depth of insight and experience to their Board, and this is an opportunity for aspiring non-executives or individuals who may not have the time available for a full non-executive commitment.

These are exciting opportunities to bring your energy and talents to make a positive difference to the wellbeing of their communities and workforce and shape Rotherham’s future. They warmly welcome and encourage applications from candidates with protected characteristics, and value the lived experience of all their Board members.
